The ALMI™ (Autologous Micronized Lipocyte Injection) Procedure is used to treat a multitude of medical and aesthetic applications using bio-cellular components. Autologous means “from the patient”. Lipocyte means it is using fat. These components include platelet-rich plasma (PRP), adipose tissue-derived stromal vascular fraction (AD -tSVF), and stem/stromal cells, harvested from the patient, processed (micronized, as shown in photo) and injected back into the areas of treatment, using a syringe similar to that used in facial fillers.
The procedure itself is performed in an outpatient, point-of-care clinical practice or treatment room, and does not entail general anesthesia. Local anesthetic is used for the small amount of fat which is harvested using aspiration, from either abdomen or flank. The procedure will take about an hour to perform, and there is very little downtime following it. You and your physician/clinician will determine the areas you wish to have treated and they will discuss with you the process and time frames to see results. Some results, such as facial or hand treatments, are seen immediately, and improve over time. Other treatments, such as for hair, may not be immediately seen, but rather during the next follicle growth cycle.
The state-of-the-art techniques and technologies used allow physicians to treat the following areas and issues:
